A day in the life of…

Clemmie Stanley.

To say that Clemmie, one of our Senior Account Managers, has had a busy month would be the understatement of year.

With just over 66 hours of flying time under her belt this month, more plane meals than she cares to remember, and a body clock lost somewhere across the Atlantic Ocean, we thought we’d give you an insider’s look into what a typical month at The Black Tomato Agency is like for one of our globetrotting event managers.

Welcome back Clem! What events did you run in April? I worked on events in Kenya, Miami and San Francisco plus a site inspection in Yosemite – I was at home for less than a week out of the whole month!

Best hotel room: Hands down ’Safari-Glamping’ in the Masai Mara – it’s the best. Every tent has en-suite bathrooms, feather down duvets and each evening was finished off by a hot chocolate and hot water bottle in each of the tents – luxury safari-bliss!

What was the highlight of your busy month? Dancing to Afro Jack at Ultra Music Festival in Miami with my colleague Lucy who ran the event with me.

What was the best sunset of the trip? Has to be the one I watched set over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco- the clouds framing the sky around the bridge – definitely a Kodak moment. Oh, and the best sunrise was definitely in the Masai Mara - nothing can beat watching the sunrise over the savannah plains from above in a hot air balloon.

Most exhilarating moment? In the Masai Mara experiencing ‘lock-in’ in the camp’s bar (oh no!) whilst waiting for a bull elephant to pass through the camp.

The best lunch spot? On top of the highest waterfall in Yosemite National Park looking down at the hotel we were staying in – it was worth every painful step that I had taken to get there!

The strangest moment?: Walking through Nairobi Airport in total darkness with the help of torches thanks to a complete power cut in the whole building.

Best cocktail sipped on? A fresh Lychee Mojito from The Raleigh in Miami watching the sunset after a very busy day with the group.

Biggest personal achievement of the month? Wow! Way too many to count, but I reckon it would be coordinating  100 people through Ultra Music Festival in Miami, through a crowd of 100,000 strong. We did have 8 huge bodyguards to help us out though!

So give us a few top highlights of each of the locations:

MIAMI:  Ultra Music Festival dancing to all the headline bands, dinner at Mr Chows (the steamed sea bass was incredible!), heading over to a Scratch Academy Session with top local DJs, sunset cruises, endless water sports, almost buying out American Eagle at Aventura Mall and lest I forget an exclusive VIP rooftop partying in The Viceroy Hotel at Club 50.

SAN FRANCISCO: Wine-tasting day out in the Napa Valley, private tours of Alcatraz, a geek filled tour of Silicon Valley, drinks in a private area of the Clift Hotel and an All-American diner experience on the famous Pier 33.

KENYA: Countless spontaneous cocktail parties in the bush, spotting all the Big 5 in the first 48 hours of the incentive trip, a sunrise hot air balloon trip, followed by breakfast in the middle of the savannah, chartered flights in and out of the Mara and a specially organised tour of local areas (for CSR purposes). For more information on a trip similar to this – take a look here.

YOSEMITE: Heading out on a Big Country Experience, hiring an SUV and driving through famed ‘Bear Country’ as well as the Cowboy Capital of the US, hiking to the top of the 2 highest waterfalls in the National Park and staying at the Ahwahnee Hotel (sleeping in one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in).

Where are you off to next: Naples, Lisbon and Dubai over the next few weeks. I’m still hoping to do an event on every continent within the year – only Australasia, South America and Antarctica to go – although Antarctica would certainly be a first for an incentive trip with The Black Tomato Agency!

Feedback from one of Clemmie’s trip:

I want to say a huge thank you, to Clemmie and to everyone at The Black Tomato Agency. A truly memorable experience, one that I will never forget! The trip itself was so well organised and everything was catered for. Everyone was kept fully informed as to what was going to take place as well as being kept on to date on any changes made to the itinerary.

Give us a call on or enquire here for any more information on any of the above trips.
